Pianist Leslie Cain is a DMA Candidate at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she studies with Paul Berkowitz.  She completed her undergraduate degree at the Manhattan School of Music as a student of André-Michel Schub. Leslie also holds a BA in Philosophy from California State University, Los Angeles, from which she graduated at age 18 as part of the school's Early Entrance Program. 
Leslie's numerous recognitions include first prizes in the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, the MTNA Senior Piano Competition, and the Cypress College Piano Competition. In the spring of 2015, Leslie performed by invitation of the Weill Music Institute as part of the inaugural season of the Resnick Education Wing at Carnegie Hall, in an all-Debussy master class conducted by Richard Goode. She has also enjoyed lessons with Murray Perahia, Jeremy Denk, Gilbert Kalish, Yo-Yo Ma, Lynn Harrell, the Kronos Quartet, and the Danish String Quartet. Leslie is an alumna of the prestigious American Conservatory at Fontainebleau, the annual summer institute held at the Palace of Fontainebleau, France. 
Leslie's academic focus is the repertoire and cultural philosophy of fin de siècle France, especially the music and life of Maurice Ravel. In her time outside school, she enjoys teaching fitness classes at barre3 Santa Barbara, riding her scooter around town, and listening to psychedelic garage rock.
