Chenoa Orme-Stone

Cellist Chenoa Orme-Stone is an active performer and music educator currently residing in Santa Barbara, California. She has appeared as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral member in concert venues across the United States and Europe. Chenoa is equally at home with contemporary, classical, and early music repertoire, as well as a diverse array of music genres, such as folk and pop music settings. 
An avid chamber musician, Chenoa has performed with renowned chamber ensembles, such as the Diamond Ensemble, and been featured in numerous chamber music festivals including PULSAR Festival of Contemporary Music and Icicle Creek Chamber Music Festival. She has been coached by Tim Frederiksen, Peter Stumpf, Federico Agostini, and members of the Pacifica Quartet, the Danish String Quartet, and the Calder Quartet. She is currently a member of the graduate string quartet in residence at the University of California Santa Barbara.
As an orchestral musician, Chenoa has performed under the baton of celebrated conductors such as David Loebel, Carl St. Clair, David Efron, Christian Badea, Kristjan Järvi, and Michael Schønwandt. While studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, she regularly performed with the Copenhagen Philharmonic and the Royal Danish Opera Orchestra. She currently performs with various orchestras throughout southern California.
In addition to performing, Chenoa has extensive teaching experience and maintains a full studio of private cello students. In 2015, she published a grade system for learning the cello and was invited to give a public lesson in a teaching masterclass with Dr. Géza Szilvay, the creator of the internationally renowned Colourstrings method. Chenoa has also taught at schools and music education programs such as the University of California Santa Barbara, the Santa Barbara Symphony Music Education Center, Santa Barbara Strings, the Copenhagen International School, and Seattle Music Partners. She is a member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California. 
Chenoa grew up in Seattle, Washington and fell in love with the cello at age four. She attended the Seattle Conservatory of Music pre-college program and earned her Bachelor of Music degree at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music as a student of Emilio Colón. She holds a Master of Music degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Music, where she studied with Morten Zeuthen. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of California Santa Barbara under the tutelage of Jennifer Kloetzel. Additional past instructors include Marc Coppey and Rajan Krishnaswami. Chenoa has also been invited to perform in masterclasses for distinguished cellists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Martin Menking, Astrid Schween, David Geber, Eric Kim, Anthony Elliot, and Chu Yi-Bing.
