Directed by Paul Bambach, the UCSB Wind Ensemble will present its annual fall concert, entitled "Variants," on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 7:30 pm in Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall. The ensemble will perform Norman Dello Joio’s Variants on A Mediaeval Theme (1963), based on "In Dulci Jubilo"; Frank Ticheli's intense and powerful Vesuvius (1999); Gustav Holst's stately Second Suite in F (1911); John Mackey's “angry, nasty march” Xerxes (2010); and Eric Whitacre's perpetuum mobile, Equus (2000). The concert will also feature student composer Erica Pobanz's Metamorphosis (2019), as well as Graduate Assistant Enoch Matsumura conducting James Barnes' Alvamar Overture (1981).
