Melissa Demarjian has devoted her life to the clarinet since the age of 12. She first studied with Russell Moreau before starting her Bachelor of Music degree under Paul Bambach. At UCSB, Melissa actively serves as principal clarinet in the University’s Wind Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra and is also active with a competition-winning clarinet duet. She has also performed in master classes for Mattias Schorn, Nicholas Cox, and Kenneth Grant. Melissa won UCSB's Quarterly Performance Award for Fall 2016 for her growing success as a soloist. She was named the alternate in the 2015 MTNA California State Competition's Young Artist Woodwind Division and she attended Margaret’s Thornhill's Claremont Clarinet Festival in 2016. Next year, Melissa will start her graduate studies at Cal State Long Beach's Bob Cole Conservatory of Music under Helen Goode-Castro.
