Meet Our Newest Partners: Now Hear Ensemble

The UCSB Department of Music proudly announces the addition of the Now Hear Ensemble as a Resident Ensemble.  This ensemble consists of current and former music students from our department, and we will be sponsoring a concert with the ensemble later this year.

Founded in Santa Barbara, California in early 2012, the Now Hear Ensemble is the Resident Ensemble at the University of California Santa Barbara Department of Music. As a unique combination of instrumentalists, the Now Hear Ensemble’s primary goal is the premier of new works by contemporary composers. Now Hear Ensemble has performed at renowned venues such as the REDCAT (Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater), the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara, CCRMA at Stanford, CNMAT at UC Berkeley, the Conrad Prebys Music Center at UCSD, the Old Little Theater at UCSB, and the Fisher Museum at USC. This September, they will perform at the Carlsbad Music Festival’s Village Walk.

Now Hear Ensemble includes alumni and current students of the UCSB Music Department:

Amanda Kritzberg // clarinet

Joel Hunt // saxophones

Anthony Paul Garcia // percussion

Jonathan Morgan // viola

Federico Llach // double bass

Now Hear Ensemble's recent Made in California Project included an exciting collaborative concert series with music from 11 composers performed throughout the state of California, culminating in the release of the album “Made in California,” recorded in the Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall at UCSB, available now on iTunes, Amazon, and CDBaby.
