The UCSB Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Music (CISM) sponsored an interdisciplinary graduate conference entitled Music and the Written Word, which explored the many facets of the convergence of these two topics.
Graduate students from Stanford, Yale, Northwestern, and other institutions as far away as Hong Kong presented papers at this conference organized by UCSB students. The event was open to the public, free of charge.
