IRVINE – For three days, he didn’t play.
Like thousands of students at UC Santa Barbara, Andrew Manos was devastated by the fatal shootings and stabbings May 23 by a young man who also took his own life.
Consumed by sadness and anger, and burned by the media spotlight that shone on the college community of Isla Vista over the ensuing days, Manos, a second-year music-composition major, stayed away from his piano and drums all weekend.
Monday, the tears finally came.
So did the music.
