Bio

Sonia Tripathi completed her B.M. and M.M. in Piano Performance and Literature in 2005 at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.

Dr. Tripathi entered the D.M.A. in Piano Performance in 2005 at the Music Department of the University of California at Santa Barbara. Dr. Tripathi studied with Dr. Charles Asche.

Dr. Tripathi received a fellowship from the Department of Music and was a winner in the Performing Arts Scholarship Foundation Competition as well as the Leni Fe Bland Scholarship Awards. She was a Teaching Assistant in the Class Piano and private lesson programs.

Before completing her doctoral studies at UCSB, Sonia was hired as Instructor of Piano at the Pittsburgh Center for Young Musicians. She completed her D.M.A. degree in 2012 and continued as Instructor of Piano at the Center for several years. Recently, Dr. Tripathi has taken a leave of absence from her work at the Center in order to devote herself to her two young children.
