DMA Lecture Recital: “Viola Arrangements: History and Rationale with Focus on New Repertoire for the Young Violist” (Tianna Harjo, viola)

Graduate violist Tianna Harjo will present a DMA lecture recital, titled “Viola Arrangements: History and Rationale with Focus on New Repertoire for the Young Violist." The program will include all or portions of works by Josef Gelinek, Jean Huré, Maria Hester Park, Peter Tchaikovsky, Josef Suk, Gabriel Fauré, Antonín Dvořák, Zequinha de Abreu, and Ludwig Mendelsson. Graduate hornist Sara Aronson will present a master's recital with pianist Dr. Natasha Kislenko (UCSB faculty member) and graduate flutist Cynthia Vong. Student Carillon Recital: David Hwang

David Hwang is an Associate Carillonneur member of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America and a fifth year Ph.D. student in the UCSB Materials Department. He has been studying carillon with Margo Halsted since the summer of 2015. Besides playing the carillon, he is also a first violinist in the Santa Barbara City College Symphony Orchestra.
