Charlie King and Bev Grant present "A Century of Song, Still Going Strong" as part of the World Music Series on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 12 p.m. in the UCSB Music Bowl. Admission is free! Charlie King is a musical storyteller and political satirist. He sings and writes passionately about the extraordinary lives of ordinary people.  Pete Seeger hailed him as “One of the finest singers and songwriters of our time.” He has been at the heart of American folk music for half a century and has been writing songs for over 40 years. Bev Grant is an activist, feminist singer-songwriter.  For the past 50 years she has devoted herself to topical songwriting and social activism, notably in her band The Human Condition and as founder and director of the Brooklyn Women's Chorus. Her song “We Were There” has become an anthem of women in the labor movement. “…a brilliant feminist with a true rock and roll heart. What’s not to love?” The World Music Series is co-presented by the Ethnomusicology Program in the UCSB Department of Music and the UCSB MultiCultural Center.
