Scott Worthington, bassist and composer

The Corwin Chair presents Los Angeles-based composer and double bassist Scott Worthington in concert on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. in Karl Geiringer Hall. Admission is free. Worthington's most recent album, Prism, was named one of the top 10 classical albums of 2015 by Alex Ross in The New Yorker. In this solo recital at UCSB, he presents three expansive works with electronics interspersed with a variety of miniatures by UCSB composition students. Clarence Barlow's ...until... #10 and Michael Pisaros' No key but a possible movement feature the bass against wildly different electronic backdrops. Closing the program, Julia Wolfe's Stronghold is a tour de force for soloist and an ensemble of pre-recorded basses.
