Jazz Ensembles have a long-standing tradition of excellence, having won awards at the Western States and Pacific Coast Collegiate Jazz Festivals, and having performed at the National Association of Jazz Artists Convention and at the IAJE International Conference. They have made numerous recordings, including three CDs: "It's About Time", "For the Love of Art", and the 1997 release "A Minor Excursion."

Jeff Benedict is currently an Associate Professor at Cal. State L.A. where he is the Saxophone Instructor and the Director of Jazz Studies. Jeff holds a B.M. and an M.A. from the Lamont School of Music and a D.M.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a student of the great classical saxophonist Harvey Pittel. He is in demand as a classical recitalist and clinician and performs regularly with the Orion Saxophone Quartet. An accomplished jazz performer as well, he is currently performing in the L.A. area with the HMA Salsa-Jazz Orchestra. He has recorded two albums under his own name on the Resurgent Music record label, Castle Creek Shuffle and Standard Fare. He has performed with many jazz artists including Toshiko Akiyoshi, Randy Brecker, Nick Brignola, Eddie Daniels, Carl Fontana, Curtis Fuller, Slide Hampton, Jimmy Heath, Hubert Laws, Wynton Marsalis, Bob Mintzer, Claudio Roditi, Diane Schuur, Lew Soloff, Billy Taylor, Mel Torme, Bill Watrous, Mark Whitfield and Joe Williams.
