John Halle of the Common Sense Composers Collective will discuss the question of meter (poetic and musical) and its connection to text setting. He will explore some of the areas of overlap between the two, as well as some of the confusions arising from the informal term "meter" being applied to domains implicated by text setting (in music) and prosodic form in poetry.
The Common Sense Composers Collective is a SF/NYC based collective of eight composers. Now in their eleventh successful year, the group continues to explore alternative ways of conceiving, developing, and presenting new musical works.
